Arrive in Bali and embark on a scenic four-hour drive to the tranquil Sumberkima Hill Retreat in the island’s northwest region.
Upon arrival, check in and take some time to relax and soak in the peaceful surroundings. In the evening, come together with the group for a warm welcome dinner and an introduction to the journey ahead.
Begin your day with a guided yoga class designed to promote balance, movement, and mindfulness. Following the session, enjoy breakfast at the retreat while taking in views of the surrounding landscape.
The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure. Guests are invited to participate in the retreat’s daily activities, including nature walks, complimentary use of the pool, gym, and spa jacuzzi, or relaxing with afternoon herbal tea at the poolside café.
After breakfast, we’ll head out for a scenic drive to Aling Aling Waterfalls in Sambangan, a series of waterfalls surrounded by lush tropical forest. Fed by mountain streams, the falls are among the most beautiful natural attractions in northern Bali and offer a refreshing setting to experience the island’s landscape.
Later, visit Brahma Vihara Arama, the largest Buddhist monastery in Bali. Often referred to as the Banjar Buddhist Temple, the monastery features meditation areas, gardens, and architecture inspired by traditional Buddhist design. Its peaceful atmosphere provides an opportunity to learn about the island’s lesser-known Buddhist traditions while enjoying the tranquil surroundings.
Bali Barat National Park is home to more than 160 species of birds and plants and protects much of western Bali’s remaining natural habitat. After a short drive into the park, begin a guided hike along the coastline, passing mangrove ecosystems and forest trails while learning about the region’s biodiversity.
Midway through the hike, enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic viewpoint overlooking the sea. The journey concludes at the Bali Mynah Bird Sanctuary, dedicated to protecting the endangered Bali Starling. Along the route, keep an eye out for monkeys, deer, and a variety of native bird species that inhabit the park.
Set off on a scenic boat ride through peaceful mangrove waterways and past local fish farms on the way to Gili Putih, a small white-sand island along the northern coast of Bali. Along the journey, enjoy views of the surrounding mountains and the volcanic peaks of Java visible across the water.
This excursion also supports Metamorfosa, a local reef restoration initiative focused on marine conservation. Snorkel at a unique underwater art gallery where sculptural installations have been designed to support coral growth. These structures provide a foundation for young corals while creating an underwater experience that highlights the connection between art and environmental stewardship.
Today’s temple tour introduces the spiritual traditions of Bali through visits to Belatung Temple, Pulaki Temple, Pabean Temple, and Melanting Temple. Each temple is dedicated to different deities and offers insight into the island’s unique Hindu beliefs, customs, and architectural traditions.
Following lunch, spend time exploring local markets and shops where artisans and vendors offer handicrafts, souvenirs, textiles, and locally produced goods. Please note that wearing a sarong is required when entering the temples.
Enjoy a full day at leisure at Sumberkima Hill Retreat. Take advantage of the peaceful setting and enjoy the facilities available throughout the property, including the pool, gym, and wellness areas.
Those seeking additional relaxation may choose to book a spa treatment or massage, while others may prefer to spend the day reading, exploring the grounds, or simply enjoying the views of the surrounding countryside.
Depart late in the evening for the journey to East Java, where you’ll experience one of Indonesia’s most remarkable volcanic landscapes. The trek to Kawah Ijen leads to a crater sitting approximately 2,600 meters above sea level and is known for its striking turquoise acidic lake and active sulfur mining operations.
After taking in the sunrise views and exploring the crater area, enjoy lunch before continuing to Kuta. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.
Today we’ll enjoy a leisurely start to the day as we explore the markets, boutiques, and shopping streets of Kuta. This is an excellent opportunity to pick up souvenirs, locally made products, and gifts while experiencing one of Bali’s most vibrant coastal destinations.
Following lunch, continue shopping or simply enjoy the lively atmosphere of Kuta. In the evening, gather with your fellow travelers for a farewell dinner, celebrating the experiences, friendships, and memories created throughout the journey.
Enjoy a relaxed final morning in Bali. Depending on your flight schedule, take advantage of some free time to unwind, enjoy the hotel facilities, or take a final stroll through the surrounding area.
At the appropriate time, transfer to the airport for your return flight home, bringing your journey through Bali and East Java to a close.
